Come on Bihar :Lage Raho....

Positive news from Bihar now apeears to be a regular feature than an aberration. Certainty if the kind of news which seems to be coming from the state is any indicator then we can safely assume that things are really likely to shape up well over the next few months.

In the last two days Bihar govt, has received some encouraging words from various quarters on various actions which has been taken since the new govt has come.

Business Standard has an analysis titled “Get Going Mr. Kumar” which talks about the positive prospects for the State. Its talks about the story of Singapore, West Bengal and opines that if the state has every reason too look forward and leave the odds behind.

It is heartening to note that after a very long time Bihar had a proper Budget on time this year. Mr Prasad used to be content with a vote-on-account till July. Not just that: the Budget was devoted to allocations to schemes that have been approved, which means spending on them can begin right away. He has done many other things in the Budget, which ought to yield results.
Perhaps the best thing which we have seen over the few months is that even previous State Govt ministers from Lalu Yadav’s brigade are also performing very well in the central cabinet. Lalu is himself leading from the front and his performance has been rated as one of the best in the cabinet. I’m sure it’s learning for these folks as they must have realized by now that governance is the key and politics has only a small role to play in popular democracy.

Bihar to be showcased at Stanford University

Chief secretary G S Kang is leading a team of delegates to Stanford University. "The chief minister has a busy schedule. He, therefore, wants a delegation of officials to go there first. Later, in August-September, a delegation of industrialists would go,"Kang said. The official delegation would leave for the US on May 28. The delegation would include planning board chief N K Singh, industries development commissioner (IDC) Vijay Raghavan and agricultural production commissioner (APC) A K Sinha. Kang said the trip would provide a unique opportunity to the state to present itself abroad before intellectuals who are on the boards of various companies and constitute their "brain trust"

According to him, the delegates would showcase Bihar as potential investment opportunity for investors abroad. In perspective, Nitish and his team had an interactive session with the NRIs at their conference in Hyderabad last year, which PM Manmohan Singh inaugurated.

Bihar gifts Shahi lichhis to President, PM, VP

The six-month-old Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar has dispatched a juicy treat to the national capital as "gift" for the President, Vice-President, Prime Minister and other dignitaries - 100 packets of Bihar's finest 'Shahi lichhis'.On directives of the state government, the packets of the mouth-watering fruit grown here were today sent to Resident Commissioner of Bihar in Delhi C K Mishra to present them as gift from the new regime in the state to the dignitaries, District Magistrate Vinay Kumar told PTI.

In a rather shocking news twenty nine children from Bihar have been rescued from a factory in Bangalore. They were rescued after two of them escaped from the factory where they had been employed for embroidery work. The man who brought them to Bangalore would force them to work long hours and beat them brutally.
Two of the boys have been hospitalised for the injuries they received. The children, who are between 10 to 14 years of age, came from the Sitamarhi district of Bihar and were employed in a sari embroidery workshop.
